Teacher of Maths / Subject Leader for Maths

MPS / UPS + SEN

Full Time / Part Time

Required April 2024 or earlier if possible

Following the successful appointment of a new Headteacher in September 2023, the school is currently undergoing a restructure and as such a variety of roles have become available. Cornfield is located in the seaside town of Littlehampton and has 72 students on role, aged between 8 and 16 who have Social, Emotional or Behavioural difficulties.

We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Maths / Subject Leader for Maths to start in April 2024 or earlier if possible. The successful applicant will work alongside our friendly and supportive team of professionals who put the students at the heart of what we do.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate robustness & resilience as the role can be extremely rewarding but very demanding. It is important to be able to maintain a level of calm and have excellent communication skills with both adults and young people. It is essential to have good organisational skills, the ability to multitask and act as a role model for students.

The ideal applicant will have recent experience of working with children with SEN, however experience in Social, Emotional and Communication Difficulties would be advantageous. Management experience is also an advantage, as well as being able to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a good school (OFSTED June 2021) that focuses on supporting SEMH students to become more independent and provide them with skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in life.

This post would be suitable for experienced and recently qualified practitioners wanting to commit to working with challenging students.

Clerk to governors

Salary NJC Grade 4: £ 11.18 per hour (Pay Award pending)

Term time only, average of 4 hours per week. To start as soon as possible.

 

Cornfield School are looking for a Clerk to the Governing Body. This is an interesting, autonomous and flexible role within education for someone who is self-motivated, flexible, reliable, thorough and has a passion for administration and compliance. 

The Clerk will be accountable to the Governing Body, working effectively with the Chairs of Governors, Headteacher and other governors.

The Clerk will be responsible for advising the Governing Body on constitutional matters, duties and powers and will work within the broad current legislative framework. You will secure the continuity of Governing Body business and observe confidentiality requirements.

Excellent literacy skills are essential. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, be extremely well organised and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. You must be able to maintain accurate records both electronically and in paper format.

You will be required to attend Full Governing Body and Sub-Committee meetings across the school year, both during the school day and in the evenings, and to accurately record all proceedings.
